Who we are
Lewes Football Foundation was established in 2024 as a non-profit company limited by guarantee (registered number 15904877). We are in the process of applying for charitable status.
The Foundation serves as an umbrella organisation, representing independently constituted community football clubs in Lewes that proudly play under the Lewes FC badge and kit, and are accredited by the Football Association, as part of the main club. Our mission is to improve football facilities, strengthen football provision, and support the community by enhancing systems and recruiting dedicated volunteers.
Our clubs include Lewes Juniors (boys and girls), currently comprising 21 teams with over 300 players (aged 6 -17 years), alongside Walking Football, Football Therapy, Saturday Rooks, Lewes Select and Lewes Vets. The Vets include both men’s and women’s teams for players aged 35 and over. Together, over 100 volunteer coaches, facilitators, managers, and committee members work tirelessly to deliver accessible, inclusive community football in Lewes.
The Foundation has committed to a three-year agreement with the main club to manage bookings for the Rookery 3G pitch at Ham Lane. We are collaborating with the club to significantly improve facilities there, ensuring the pitch can support the growing demand for football across all ages and abilities.
In the past year, through the outstanding efforts of volunteers and the financial support of our clubs and sponsors, we have:
Brought over 500 players onto the Spond sports management app to streamline administration and communication.
Developed several new on-site facilities.
Established systems and recruited volunteers to provide football opportunities for hundreds more players in the community.
A key focus of the Foundation is to develop and grow football for women and girls in Lewes. This includes increasing participation, providing pathways for players to progress, and ensuring that equal opportunities exist for women and girls to thrive in the game. We recognise the vital role football plays in building confidence, community, and skills for life, and we are committed to removing barriers to participation, ensuring the sport is inclusive and accessible to all.
Our aim is simple: to grow the game in Lewes by providing more football, for more people, more of the time.
